Please keep λογος 83 in your prayers as they complete their retreat today (Friday, 3 October). The roster is posted in the λογος portion of the Benet web site. See the retreats page to get to the λογος pages and more details.
CMAT is planning the next Movie & Discussion Night for Tuesday, 7 October 2008 with the movie Spiderman. To help plan the discussion topics, set up, clean up, and generally be on the inside contact Board Leaders Rita Winiecki or Sam Jones.
CMAT is planning various Pro-Life activities including a collection using baby bottles, a Cemetery of the Innocent during October, and more. Contact Secretary Sarah Barden or Activity Coordinator Tori Taylor or come to the CMAT General Meeting to get in on the ground floor.
CMAT Activity Coordinator Zack Stewart, Fr. Bob, and Mr. Conley are getting ready for evening Praise & Worship at Benet, but we need more Benet students: The Band needs both instrumentalists (especially rhythm section) and singers. We need a logistics person or two as well as singers and instrumentalists. Logistics is set up/clean up help and organizing the fellowship (conversation and munchies). (We lost a lot of seniors last year.) Rehearsals and services are both on Wednesday nights at 7:00 pm in the Chapel. Our first evening service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 29. Contact any of the above people to get connected or come to the CMAT General Meeting or just stop by the Ministry Office (J305).
Of course, the small, less formal, Praise & Worship sessions continue every Wednesday and All-School Mass days during periods 5 & 6 (except during Finals weeks). These sessions currently rely on Fr. Bob’s guitar skills, but he would love to have others playing with him (or even without him).
CMAT is planning an evening with the monks of St. Procopius Abbey that we call Dinner & Vespers. Up to ten (10) Benet folks (students, faculty, staff, and even parents) can come to have dinner, a mini-tour, and pray Vespers with the monks at the abbey on Tuesday, 28 October. The evening starts promptly at 5:30 pm (or 4:45 pm if you'd like to go to Mass beforehand) in the lobby at the Abbey. The evening ends at about 7:35 pm when Vespers is finished. Sign-ups start Tuesday, 14 October in the Ministry Office (J305). It's free!
CMAT Activity Coordinator Gabby Muzzarelli is leading the charge to support our troop with collection of various items that they need (a list will be available in the future). If you would like to help organize this effort, contact Gabby or come to the CMAT General Meeting to sign up.
The EMCs and the Mass Choir are in good shape, but Benet still needs some Altar Servers, Lectors, Sacristans, and maybe even a few Musicians. While ministry may be possible at or for the All-School Masses, there are many, many opportunities for daily Masses, special events, and various kinds of seasonal church maintenance. CMAT Activity Coordinator Mary Schmidt is helping Fr. Bob with the Sacristans. If you are interested in any of the ministries, contact Mary, Fr. Bob, or come to the CMAT General Meeting.
Would your club or team like to have a Mass oriented toward it? Or, would your club or team like a another kind of prayer service for it? This is likely possible. After all, the football team has Mass on Friday before its games! Check out the Masses and Other Liturgies section for how to sponsor a Mass or simply make arrangements with Fr. Bob for whichever service in which you and your group have an interest.
If any of you new CMAT Board Members who took pictures on the formation retreat would like to see them on the web in the CMAT section, then please e-mail them to Fr. Bob!
The CMAT Beacon is the official newsletter of CMAT. The first issue is out now! If you are not so much into the web version, real paper copies can be picked up outside the Ministry Office, the Chapel, and the Dean’s Office. It has an overview of the CMAT activities currently getting started. Beginning with the next issue, it will contain mostly spiritual reflections by Benet folks—mostly students. If you would like to write for the Beacon, contact CMAT Activity Coordinators Matt Nelligan or Gabby Muzzarelli. Check it out!
The Benet Praise & Worship Band rehearses every Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Chapel except when we either have a Service or some Benet need requires us to move or skip rehearsal. Such moves and skips will be announced.
If you are interested in joining the band, please see either CMAT Activity Coordinator Zack Stewart, Mr. Conley, or Fr. Bob. We have both singers and instrumentalists; at this writing, we still need a pianist, a bassist, a drummer, and more singers. (Fr. Bob is playing bass at the moment. Yikes!) We would certainly welcome additional people on guitar and various wind or stringed instruments as well.
Due to illness, the 12 Sep meeting did not go as planned. Thus, Benet Bible Study planning another organizational meeting for all interested parties at7:15 am, 7 Oct in the Green Room (J309). In the meantime, please contact CMAT Board Leader Sam Jones or Fr. Bob with your interests for this Fall and we will keep you in the loop!
CMAT’s next General Meeting is Thursday, 9 October 2008. You can choose one of either 7:15 am or 2:45 pm. in the Green Room (J309). Every Benet person, especially students, who would like to be involved in ideas for and organization of ministry activities at Benet is invited!
See the CMAT web site for more details about what CMAT is working on now in addition to activities mentioned above. Of course, we are always looking for more ideas, too!
The CMAT Board will meet Monday, 6 October at 2:40 pm in the Ministry Office (J305). We will check status and continue the planning for things like Movie & Discussion Night, Dinner & Vespers, Praise & Worship, Respect Life Month, etc. in preparation for the 9 Oct General Meeting (see above).
Please see the Masses and Other Liturgies section for our regular schedule and a listing of most special events.
