Hockey

The team also takes on Notre Dame on Tuesday, Feb 25th, at 9:25pm @ Niles-Ballard in game 2 of the semifinal round of the CCHL tournament.

Varsity Girls’ Soccer

There is a mandatory meeting today at 3:10 pm in the small gym meeting room for all juniors, seniors, and invited underclassmen who are trying out for soccer.

Concussion Testing

Baseline Concussion testing for Freshman Boys Lacrosse players will be Wed., Feb. 26 and Thur., Feb. 27 from 3pm-4pm in the computer labs.

Freshman boys who did Baseline concussion testing for a Fall sport do not need to repeat test.

Film Club

Film club will be finishing "rebel without a cause" on Wednesday. Room m121

Broadcasting Club

There will be a broadcasting club meeting today after school in meeting room 2 in the library.

Debate Club

The Benet Debate club is looking for additional members! There will be a MANDATORY meeting after school on Wednesday, February 26th in the Library for all current members and anyone interested. We'd love to see you there! If for some reason you cannot make the meeting, please email Michael Krumdick.

Mr. Redwing

Attention Seniors: The 2014 Mr. Redwing Pageant is coming up at the end of March. We are requesting that each captain and club president send in a nominee to represent them in the pageant. We will also be taking individual nominations during lunch on Wednesday and Thursday. Please email Abby O’Connor or Katy Grunenwald with your nominations. Thank you.

Science Alliance
Science Alliance is moving its meeting this week to Thursday at 3:15 in Room T112. This meeting is mandatory for students who will be competing at the March 8th Regional Tournament. Students are also reminded that their Event Folders must be brought to Mrs. Volin by today.

Join S.A.L.T. this Saturday in serving our brothers and sisters in Christ at Our Lady of Angels Food Pantry this Saturday, March 1st from 7:45 a.m. to noon. Transportation is provided, sign up and permission forms are on the service bulletin board.

Bring a piece of heaven to someone who is lonely by visiting with them one day after school. Sign ups for Angel Visits to take place in March at Villa St. Benedict are now up on the bulletin boards.

Hockey

Benet Varsity Hockey team takes on Lyons Township on Monday, Feb 24th, at 7pm @ Seven Bridges in round one of the Blackhawk Cup tournament.

SALT

Immediately after school tomorrow, Ms. Nancy Kreuzer will be offering a presentation in the Chapel of St. Therese, the Little Flower on the pain, sorrow, and journey of healing that can often accompany an abortion. Ms. Kreuzer is the Chicago area regional coordinator for the Silent No More awareness campaign which seeks 1) to make the public aware of the devastation abortion causes and 2) to provide hope and healing to those contemplating an abortion as well as those who have already had an abortion. All are welcome to attend.

Adoration tomorrow after school will conclude at 3:00. Reconciliation will be offered after school.

Welcome to Benet Parking

On Sunday at the Welcome to Benet program, parking will be limited. All Benet students need to park in the ST SCHOLASTICA parking lot. This includes Recruitment Office volunteers, Activity table students, Athletic table students, AND 42ND STREET students. Thank you for your cooperation.

Boys’ Volleyball

There will be an open gym for boys' volleyball this coming Sundayevening from 7-9 pm.

MUSE

Saturday night blues? Stop by OPEN MIC night tomorrow night in St. Daniel's lobby for some refreshments, poetry, piano, stories and song. 7 - 8:30 pm. All are welcome. February doesn't get any more chill than this!

Mother / Son Casino Night

Mother/Son Casino night = Saturday, February 22nd in the small gym at Benet. We need 7 volunteers (boys or girls) to help with setup the morning of the event, in the small gym from 10:30am-12:30pm. We also need 15 girls to help with various things throughout the night, in the small gym from 7pm - 11pm. Dress for the event is black slacks and a white blouse.

Nancy Kruezer (Cruiser) is coming to Benet on Tuesday, February 25th. Having experienced an abortion herself, Nancy offers a personal perspective on the challenges women are confronted with during an unexpected or unwanted pregnancy and the long term hurt incurred from choosing abortion. Nancy's presentation on healing, reconciliation, and ministering to others will be in the chapel after school.

Chess Club

The Benet Academy Chess Team captured second place with 138 teams competing at the IHSA State Championship in Peoria this past weekend. The Benet Team compiled an impressive 6 & 1 record, losing only to undefeated 1st place finisher Whitney Young.

Boys’ Volleyball

There will be an open gym for boys' volleyball this coming Sundayevening from 7-9 pm.

Medical Club
The Medical Club will be having TWO meetings, one at 7:20 am and one right after school, in Doc Blaney's room this coming Thursday. We will be finalizing the date for our next dissection. In addition, we will be discussing t-shirt and crewneck sweater orders. The design will be debuted at the upcoming meeting, and orders will be placed by this weekend. Attend either of the two meetings to get information and to place an order. If you cannot attend the meetings this Thursday and still would like a t-shirt or sweater, the sign-up sheet is on the outside of Doc Blaney's door. Once again, there will be a meeting before and after school on Thursday. Hope to see you there!

Spring Break Trip

Service Hour Opportunity

The sun is out, the weather warmer and God is good, all the time. Bring a little warmth and sunshine to someone at VSB by volunteering for game day today from 3:15-4:15. Sign up is on the Service bulletin board in St. Joseph's hall.

The bus for Feed My Starving Children will be leaving Benet at 4:40 today. We will be stopping at Portillo's for dinner along the way. Students who are volunteering and meeting at FMSC should arrive at 5:45 and expect to be done at 7:30. Please make sure to turn in a permission slip.

Students who signup up for SEASPAR this coming Friday night from 5:30-9:00 should check their Benet email for details.

Service Hour Opportunity

Join the fun at Villa St. Benedict's tomorrow for game day with the residents from 3:15-4:15. Sign up is on the bulletin board in Joseph's hall. Transportation across the street is not provided so please make arrangements if you plan to go.

Students taking the bus to Feed My Starving Children tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19th should meet the bus by the back door near the cafeteria at 4:40. The bus will be stopping at Portillo's for dinner so bring some cash. Check your Benet email for more details.

theme for the night will be sweater vest night. Let's pack the gym on
this historic and memorable night. See you there with your sweater

Due to lack of interest and no RSVP, the Spanish Club Valentine breakfast will be postponed for a later date.

Turnabout 2014

Tomorrow night is the 2014 Turnabout Dance. The dance will run from 7:30-10:30pm. As is true with all of our dances, admission to the dance will closed at 8:30pm. If for any reason a student may be late for the dance, he/she should speak to one of the deans about the circumstances causing the late arrival. In addition, students will be asked to remain at the dance until 10 p.m. Once a student enters the dance, he may not leave the dance to go to a car, for example, without the permission of a school administrator.

Benet Broadcasting

There will be a broadcasting club meetingnext Tuesdayafter school.

SuperCrayons

All students are reminded that they can sign up to help make SuperCrayons on Tuesday, February 18th, from 3:30-5:30 after school at SCARCE. You can help the environment and help disabled children by making SuperCrayons from recycled crayons. Details can be found on the Environmental Club Webpage. Signup sheet on the service bulletin board.

Social Media Club

Due to computer related problems today, the Social Media Club will be meeting tomorrow immediately after school in library lab 2. If you were unable to make it this morning, please feel free on coming tomorrow.

Yard signs celebrating the class of 2014's June 1st graduation are now available for order! Signs are $20 each. Order by 2/28 using a form found on the Mothers Club website and also in the Dean's office.

Sophomore Baseball

Boys Basketball

The boys’ basketball team plays at Nazareth on Friday night – sophomores at 5:30 and varsity at 7:00.

Spanish Club

Due to lack of interest and no RSVP, the Spanish Club Valentine breakfast will be postponed for a later date.

Student Government

Thursday is the last day to buy Turnabout tickets for $40. Tickets will be on sale Friday, but the price will be increased to $50. You can purchase the tickets today or tomorrow, February 13, in the café during lunch and homeroom.

If you were unable to purchase a Valentine’s Day flower, but would still like to, you are in luck! Student Government will be selling flowers, tomorrow, February 13, in the Cafeteria. Don’t forget your dollars so you can buy a flower for the "Special Someone.”

NHS Hour Opportunity

Blanket Babes will be after school in the library next Tuesday, February 11th; make fleece blankets for an hour of service.

Students who signed up to compete in this year's Envirothon should be sure to check their Benet email for important information. All those interested in being on the team should attend the brief meeting today in Mrs. Volin's room at3:15.

Science Alliance
A reminder that this week's Science Alliance meeting will be held on Thursday at3:15instead of Wednesday. The club will be finalizing the roster for the Huntley Invitational, so it is important for competitors to attend this week's brief meeting!

Environmental Club
The Environmental Club invites all students to go to SCARCEnext Tuesdayafter school to make SuperCrayons. Broken, used crayons are melted, remolded and recycled to make brand-new giant crayons that are then donated to severely disabled children and adults.

SALT
Tomorrow's Fifth and Sixth period Masses will still occur on the half day schedule. All students who are in homeroom or in the cafe are welcome to attend.

Students participating in Angel Visits today will be greeted by Sr. Mary at the VSB Benedale entrance after school. Tomorrow's angel visits will take place at1:00rather that3:00to accomodate the 1/2 day schedule.

There is a SALT meeting today after school in J307. Its never too late to be the Salt of the earth. Add some seasoning to your life today!

Prayer Group
We will be praying for our loved ones who have died on Thursday at the beginning of Period 5 in the Green Room. Please join us; it lasts about ten minutes. If there are people you'd like us to include in our prayers, please pass them on to Mr. O'Donnell
