Boys’ Varsity Basketball

The boys’ basketball team has their first game tonight at 7 o’clock at Naperville North against Naperville North. Come out and support the team.

Two basketball managers are needed this season, and freshmen to seniors are welcome.  To get all the details, email Luca Valentino at benet2015@gmail.com by Tuesday, November 26.

Guitar Club

There will be a MANDATORY Guitar Club meeting today to finalize plans for the December 7th concert.  Anyone who plans to play in the show MUST be in B204 immediately after school for a brief meeting.  Groups can then practice at school or are free to leave.  Please see Mr. Akin with any questions.

Science Alliance

Today is the last day to order your Science Alliance T-shirt.  

Students wishing to order a Science Alliance T-shirt must see Mrs. Volin or Mr. Marshall today to place your order.   T-shirt designs and additional information can be found on the Science Alliance Edline page.

Volunteers are encouraged to sign up to make Super Crayons after school at SCARCE next Tuesday, December 3rd.  Sign up on the Service Bulletin Board!

Service Hours

Students can get service hours for helping at the Avions Showcase on Sunday, December 8th.  Shifts are from 1-3 or 3-5:30 and wear your Benet uniform.  Sign up on the service board and contact Ariana Zlioba or Sarah Szymborski with questions.

Art Club

Art Club is cancelled for this week and will meet again after Thanksgiving.

Broadcasting Club

There will be a Broadcasting Club meeting today after school in Meeting Room 2 in the Library. All members should go.

Set Crew

Set crew will meet after school today to deconstruct the set.

Logos

January Logos is filled for both young men and young ladies.

Leadership applications for the January retreat are due the Monday following Thanksgiving.  Please hand them in to Mr Marty Ford or Mr. Ramon Marth.

Poetry Slam

Always wanted to do a poetry slam?  Want to try out your talents with spoken word poetry?  

There is an OPEN MIC opportunity to SHARE  POEMS at the December Guitar Club Show!  Come to today's MUSE meeting after school in M120 for more details or see Mrs. Rogalski.

Christmas Drive Shopping

The Christmas Drive shopping Day is approaching on December 14th.  Permission forms are out in the Dean's Office, SALT office, and bulletin board in St. Joseph's hall.  Each individual participating will need a permission form and all permission forms should be stapled to one group form.  Juniors...is you are taking the ACT that Saturday morning and would still like to participate in the Christmas drive, SEE MRS. BEDORE, we've worked out a way for you to join in the Christmas giving!  

Senior Panoramic Picture

Any senior wishing to order a panoramic picture should turn in their order forms and money to the Deans Office. The last day to place an order for these is Tuesday.

1)     Any runner that was not at the banquet on Sunday can pick up their award in Mr. Brooks' room after school this week.

2)     Any girl who ran cross country this year and has not turned in their uniform yet, has until the end of the week to return their uniform.  After that, you will be billed the replacement cost of the uniform.

Athletic Office

The athletic office is looking for someone with experience to do the
book at a home varsity girls' game tonight starting at 6:00pm and
another one tomorrow, starting at 1:30 pm.  These are paid positions.
Please see Mr. Goforth in the athletic office if interested.

Bowling Club

The last meeting of the bowling club before Thanksgiving is today at 3:30, and it's sure to be stuffed with fun. Cost to bowl is $7, and the first two bowlers to roll three strikes in a row will win a $15 Best Buy gift card. Bowl a turkey, and the rest is gravy.

Broadcasting Club

There will be a Broadcasting Club meeting next Monday after school in Meeting Room 2 in the Library. Contact Illia Dragan Lukić for more info.

THE DRAMA TROUPE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THOSE TEACHERS AND STUDENTS WHO ATTENDED LAST NIGHT'S PERFORMANCE OF

THE 39 STEPS.  TICKETS FOR THIS FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY'S PERFORMANCES ARE ON SALE IN THE CAFETERIA.  YOU CAN ALSO PURCHASE TICKETS AT THE DOOR.

Christmas Drive Shopping

The Christmas Drive shopping Day is approaching on December 14th.  Permission forms are out in the Dean's Office, SALT office, and bulletin board in St. Joseph's hall.  Each individual participating will need a permission form and all permission forms should be stapled to one group form.  Juniors...is you are taking the ACT that Saturday morning and would still like to participate in the Christmas drive, SEE MRS. BEDORE, we've worked out a way for you to join in the Christmas giving!  

There is an Interfaith Prayer Service at St. Procopius Abbey on Monday, November 25th from 7:30-9:00.  Following the Papal Assisi Model of praying in each other’s presence, will be the Benedictine monks of the Abbey, Buddhist Zen, Hindu, Sikhs, Muslims, Jews, and faithful from many other traditions. The Abbey Schola will sing several pieces of Gregorian chant.  Please join us.

The musical help session is a vocal help session and will be held right after school in the rehearsal room.

Mr. Leffler could use 4 NHS helpers at each of the four nights of the upcoming Drama Production November 21, 22, 23, and 24.  They would need to arrive around 6pm and they would stay until about 8:30. Sign up now!!!

The annual Christmas Drive Shopping Day is approaching so gear up your sleds and organize your team together for a festive day of giving!  Each shopping team will need to turn in ONE gold  form listing all the shoppers and their information AND  individual permission slips for EACH participant on the team.  All the forms need to be attached together when they are turned in to Mrs. Bedore.  All permission forms are located in the Dean's office, at the Service Bulletin Board in St. Joseph's hall and near the SALT office, 3rd floor Joseph's.  When your team turns in their forms, they will be given the information for the family they will be shopping for.   The due date for turning in the forms is Wednesday, December 11th.

Detention

Detention will be held today from 3:05 until 3:25 in M26. The list is posted on the Deans' Office bulletin board.

Lockers

A recent inspection of our lockers revealed that a number of students have tampered with their lock mechanism and/or have written on the inside of their lockers. The lockers are the property of the school. Starting today, a student who has a locker that has been tampered with or written in will receive a detention.

College Search

Tonight the College Counselors will host a College Search Program for juniors & their parents.   The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. in St. Daniel Hall.  Please plan on attending.

Lockers

A recent inspection of our lockers revealed that a number of students have tampered with their lock mechanism and/or have written on the inside of their lockers. Spring Musical

There is a meeting for any student interested in auditioning for the spring musical - 42nd Street.  The meeting is after school on today at 3:10 in the Auditorium and will last about 20 minutes. If you are unable to be at the meeting, you may pick up the information packet on Wednesday, but not before the meeting. See Mr. Wand or Ms. Condon with questions.

Volleyball

Congratulations to the girls volleyball team on a successful season,  2nd in state is a big accomplishment.  thank you to all the fans and teachers who drove down and  took the fan bus to cheer us on! 

We want to wish the swimmers good luck as they head to state this weekend!

Episode 3 of the Ornithology Club’s web series will be released this weekend and can be found on the Facebook page or on the Ornithology Clubs Youtube channel.

Drama
If you have not seen a production by the Benet Drama Troupe, The 39 Steps is the perfect place to start.  A hilarious comedy with 4 actors playing multiple roles will keep you laughing.

Tickets are on sale in the cafeteria during lunch this week.

Model UN

ALL MODEL UN MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND A MEETING TUESDAY MORNING BEFORE SCHOOL AT 7:15 IN ROOM B402.  PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR PERMISSION FORMS.

Spring Musical

New students are always welcome at the Environmental club, and there are many ways to get involved.  So plan to stop in at today's meeting in Mrs. Volin's room at 3:10 pm.

Train Shuttle and I-355 Bus

Because the Benet Academy bus is being used to take students to the state volleyball tournament, there will not be a late train shuttle or I-355 bus runs today. Any student who is dependent on that bus to get home today should see me as soon as possible.

The theme for Friday’s game is "Red, White, and Blue,” and the theme for Saturday’s game is "Blackout!”  

Volleyball Fan Bus
Important information about the volleyball fan buses. Tonight's fan bus will leave Benet at 4:30 pm outside of Martin's lobby. Students should arrive to Benet at4:15 so that we can leave promptly. It should be back to Benet around 11:30 pm. Those who have signed up for tomorrow's fan bus, please know that we will ONLY be having a bus if the girls win tonight. If they win, we will leave Benet at 6 from Martin's parking lot. Please plan on arriving to Benet at 5:45. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Frey or Mr. Veselik.

Environmental Club

Plan to attend the next meeting of the Environmental Club, which will be held after school on Monday. 

The club will discuss service projects at SCARCE and the Morton Arboretum.  In addition, those students who plan to compete in the 2014 Envirothon should come to register and to pick up study materials.  

New students are always welcome at the Environmental club, and there are many ways to get involved!  Monday's meeting will be held in Mrs. Volin's room at 3:10 pm. 

 

Bowling Club

Benet Bowling: Like the Turkey Bowl, but with more Turkeys and more bowling.
Week 2 of bowling begins at 3:30 today at Lisle Lanes! Cost to bowl is $7

SALT

SALT will have its next meeting on MONDAY, November 18th after school in J307.  Prayer and plans for SALTs participation in the Christmas Drive will be discussed.  Bring an old friend and meet two or three new ones!  

SALT is headed to Villa St. Benedict's to play Bingo with the residents in the memory care clinic on Wednesday, November 20th after school.  Sign up to make someone's day as you share your time and a smile with them.  Sign up and permission slips are at the bulletin board in St. Joseph's hall.
