Overdue Library Books Seniors are reminded that all library books must be returned and fines paid before you are issued a cap and gown for graduation. Senior Breakfast SENIORS! Join us in the cafeteria this Thursday morning for the annual Senior Breakfast. Enjoy a free, delicious, hot breakfast served to you by Benet alumni volunteers. NHS Attention Seniors - if you are a member of NHS, please see Mrs. Bruining this week to pick up your graduation tassel! Congratulations to the new NHS Executive Board! The list is now posted on the SG window. See you at the induction ceremony!

There will be sheets posted on the counseling and dean's office bulletin boards showing exam times and locations. Please let Mrs. Kothe know ASAP if you are canceling an exam. What to bring to the Exam Room: A check for $74.00 payable to Benet Academy. Several sharpened No. 2 pencils with erasers. Black or blue ball point pens. A watch. (To pace yourself during the exam.) 1 or 2 approved calculators, with fresh batteries, for Calculus, Physics, Statistics, and Chemistry.

Disc Golf The Benet Disc Golf Club will be playing at Knoch Knolls Park today after school. All are welcome. If you have any questions contact Jack Corrigan or Chris Wentland.

Guitar Club The Benet Academy Guitar Club invites you to their year end rock extravaganza this Saturday night at 7 PM in St Daniels Hall. Come to hear a wide variety of talented student and faculty performers doing songs from metal to acoustic. Come to honor and say goodbye to the seniors who have been performing in Guitar Club the last 4 years. Admission is 5 dollars and all the proceeds go to SG Charities. See you Saturday at 7. Also, any Bent band or individual who has not yet signed up for the concert should do so asap in Mr. Conley's room, B202.
Model UN Sophomores interested in participating in Model UN should pick up information in the Dean's Office as soon as possible. See Mr. Leffler if you have any questions.
Uniforms The Dean's office is in need of shirts, blouses, ties, sweaters and belts if you would be so kind as to donate them!! We lend them to students who may need to borrow them because of accidents or just forgetfulness!! Bring them to Mrs. Shuma! Thank you!
Environmental Club This is your chance to do Something Big for the Environment! Saturday is the 21st Annual DuPage River Sweep! Volunteers will be working all over the county to clean up branches of the DuPage River and other streams. Tons of trash were removed from streams last year including such unusual items as tires, a swingset, bowling balls, a car fender, mattress, even a vending machine! Benet has been asked to work at Community Park in Lisle from 9-12 this Saturday, and we need more help! A permission slip and waiver form must be signed by your parent and turned in to Mrs. Volin. Come to today's Environmental Club meeting to sign up or see Mrs. Volin by tomorrow to participate!
The club meets at 2:45 today to discuss the River Sweep and final nominations for next year's Board. All are invited to today's meeting, which will be held in room S119.
Outreach Tomorrow right after school is the last Game Day at Villa
St. Benedict for the year. Sign up at the Activities Office.
Film Club Film Club will meet on Wednesday from 3:00-4:00. The group will be watching Mean Girls.
The meeting room is M12.
MUSE The 2012 spring publication of MUSE, Benet Academy's literary magazine is available for sale beginning this Thursday, May 17.
Cost is five dollars. Magazines will be sold in the cafe, the dean's office, and room M120. See Mrs. Rogalski or Mike Kaufman if you have any questions.
Detention Detention will be held this Thursday from 2:45 until 3:30. The room is M26. The list is posted on the Dean's Office bulletin board.

Track Congratulations to the fr-so and varsity Boys Track and Field teams for finishing 2nd on both levels. Congrats to the following Frosh-Soph Conference Champs: Ben Micharreunne in the 100m Dash 4x200 and 4x400 meter Relays Sean Byrne in Long Jump And Varsity Conf Champs: Austin Dzik in the 300 Hurdles Stephen Hubona in the Discus 4x800 m Relay
These 1st place finished were followed by numerous second place finishes. Congrats to a great season. The team hopes that fans can come cheer them on at the state qualifying meet next Friday at Benedictine University.
Freshman Soccer Congratulations to the girls' freshman soccer team for winning the highly competitive Mother Macauley Tournament this weekend. The freshmen finish their season with 20 wins and 2 losses, the best freshman record ever!
Baseball Senior Night Benet Varsity Baseball Senior night is this Thursday, May 17th. Before the 4:30 game against St. Joe's, senior Redwing players will be honored.

Guitar Club Any Benet band or individual performer who would like to do a song for the Guitar Club concert on May 19th should stop by Mr. Conley's room, B202, this week to sign up for the show. Please do this today or tomorrow.
Lunch Change In order to accommodate the students taking the AP European History test tomorrow, there will be a change in our normal 5th period lunch schedule. For tomorrow only, Sophomores will eat during the 5A period and freshmen will eat 5B. You will be reminded of this change tomorrow.
CMAT Attention Juniors who might like to apply for service as Extraordinary Ministers of Communion at Benet next year. Application forms have been emailed to your Benet email accounts, and hard copies are available in the Dean's Office, in the Principal's Office, and at the entrance to the Chapel. Please note that the application includes a recommendation from someone associated with your home parish by Friday, May 25th. If this poses a difficulty for you for some reason, please see Mr. Marth in the Principal's Office by Monday, May 21st. Thanks.
Attention to those wishing to participate on the Campus Ministry Assistance Team Student Board next year. Applications for CMAT leadership roles have also been emailed and are available at the locations mentioned above. Once again, if securing a parish recommendation would pose a significant hardship, please see Mr. Marth in the Principal's Office by Monday, May 21st. Thanks for considering a commitment to these important leadership roles.
Ornithology Club The Ornithology Club's Bird of the Week is Brown-Headed Cowbird.
Yearbooks Starting Mon yearbooks will be on sale for anyone who did not pre-order. They are $60 and will be sold at lunch or in the Dean's Office. Please check to see if you prepaid before you buy a second yearbook. --

NHS Anyone looking to continue volunteering at PADS this summer is invited to help at Trinity Lutheran Church on route 53. Help is needed on the third Thursday of June, July and August. Volunteers would need to be there at 6 am to help clean up. No sign up is needed, just show up! Need NHS hours? Sign up to help out as a ticket taker or usher at the chorus concerts this Wednesday and Thursday nights. Sign up sheets are in the dean's office.

Environmental Club All students are invited to come to the Environmental Club meeting after school today in Mrs. Volin's room. The club is looking for help to work at the DuPage River Sweep on Saturday May 19th. At this event, volunteers will be working throughout DuPage County to clean up and beautify local branches of the DuPage River. Our school will be working at Hitchcock Grove, about 1/2 mile from here. NHS hours are available. Come find out more about the River Sweep and the other activities that the club has planned!!

Math Team The Benet Academy Math Team won the Illinois 3AA State Championship Saturday in Champaign-Urbana. The title was the Math Team's second, the other occurring in 2005. Senior Tom Gannon won the state championship in the Oral competition with 48 out of a possible 50 points. Later in the day, in a large jam packed auditorium, Tom and Junior Brendan Caseria finished 2nd in the State in the Junior-Senior 2-person competition. To wrap up a terrific day, Tom capped it off with an 8th place finish in the Pre-Calculus written competition. The senior team of Rachel Berry, Sabrina Lichon, Brian Meier, Robbie Stanley, Jeff Sweeney and Gannon finished in 4th place, their highest finish ever at the State Math Meet. Caseria also won the state championship in the Algebra 2 individual written competition leading the juniors to the team championship. Pat Hawley also finished in the top ten in the individual written contest. Sophomore Jack Stucky also won a state championship in the Geometry written competition, leading the sophomore team to a 5th place finish. Stucky, along with Freshman Matt Rossi, also finished 3rd in the state in the Freshman-Sophomore 2-person contest. Rossi and freshman tied for 7th place in the Algebra 1 written competition, leading the freshmen team of to a tie for the freshman team championship.
Outreach 1. Feed My Starving Children is on Wednesday. Please notethe time change; the shift is from 5:55-7:30pm, We still need about 10 more volunteers! 2. A week from Wednesday will be our last Game Day at Villa St. Benedict for the year. Sign up at the Activities office.
Prom Tickets
Prom ticket sales end this Wednesday. We will be selling tickets during Junior and Senior lunch and after school today in Martin's Lobby. In order to buy tickets you need to have permission slips for yourself and your date. Also, Junior Attendant Nominations will be available during Lunch and Homeroom and in the SG office. Thank you!
Freshman Girls' Soccer Congratulations to the Girls' Freshman Soccer team for winning the prestigious Downers Grove South Invitational Tournament this weekend. The Lady Redwings shut-out all three teams they played. The freshmen record now stands at 15-2; they have allowed only 3 total goals this season.

If she wins today, she will travel to New York City in June to compete for the National Title.

Girls' Track Congratulations to the Girls Track Team who narrowly won their 6th straight conference championship and their 16th overall conference title last night at BU.
While it was truly a team effort, with the Redwings placing in every one of the 18 events, the Redwings had 5 conference event champions leading the way:
Anne Yahiro in both the long jump and triple jump;
Olivia Bugno in the discus;
the 4x800 relay team of Nini Marchese, Allison Carroll, Kathleen Vogel and Liz Johnson;and finally Darcy Cadman in the high jump in which she set a new school record and tied the ESCC record.
Way to go Redwings!
Latin Competition Last evening 8 Latin students competed in the State Latin Certamen competition. The novice team of Will O'Meara Joe Popelka,Matt Rossi, and John WIng and the advanced level team of Brad Bozych, Mike Kaufman, Nicoletta Knoble, and Mary Beth Wagner placed Second and Third respectively in the State. Joe Popelka also received the MVP award for the novice team. Congratulations to all!
Seniors Mrs. Cunneen must have your college decision sheet today if you want to be included in the picture board.
Boys' Tennis Today is the final home match for seniors on the boys tennis team. It is also Cram the Court. Come out and cheer on the tennis team against conference rival Carmel. Matches will start around 4:30pm.
Volunteers The Wheaton Briarcliffe Youth Baseball League is looking for volunteers to help with a fundraiser this Saturday, May 5th at Briar Glen Elementary School in Wheaton. Shifts are from 7:30 AM to 10:00AM and 10:00 AM to 12:30PM. Sign up in the dean's office. If you have any questions, contact Courtney Oei.

Girls' Varsity Soccer Senior Day Students, please come out and show your support for the senior soccer girls in the varsity game against Bishop McNamara at the Benet Stadium field at 5:00 tonight. We are calling this the "Sweet 16” senior night game since we are honoring the 16 seniors on the varsity squad. Let's fill the stadium with students, teachers and fans to cheer on the soccer team to a big senior night victory! Thank you for your support from the varsity coaches, parents and players.
Boys' Varsity Lacrosse The Boys' Varsity Lacrosse team beat the #4 team in the stae this past weekend. Come cheer them on at Naperville Central tonight at 8:15.

Military Drive This week, Campus Ministry will be sponsoring a Support Our Troops item drive. Items will be collected until Friday, April 27. Certain items are requested; refer to posted lists. Donated items, including letters, books, and certain foods and toiletries can be placed in boxes located in various teacher classrooms all next week. We hope that our combined efforts can make a big difference in the lives of these servicemen and women!
Girls Track Congratulations to the Girls' Track Team on their victory in the Benet Invitational yesterday. The Redwings were led with individual event wins by Rachel Mann in the mile, Anne Yahiro in the triple jump, Darcy Cadman in the high jump, Elaine Cleary in the 800m and Olivia Bugno in the discus.
The Redwings are hosting the conference meet next Wednesday night at the BU track. Come out to cheer on the Redwings as they try to win their 6th straight conference title.
Seniors Now that decision time is here do you want to get rid of that paper mountain of college info? The CCC will gladly accept your donations for our files. Recycle and help save some trees!
Tomorrow during the 6A period counselors will speak to seniors in Ms. Eraci's, Mr. Marshall's and Mr. Taska's lab homerooms. Mr. Brown and Mr. Wiora will speak to all other seniors in St. Daniel Hall during the 6A period.
Environmental Club The Environmental Club will be meeting at the Morton Arboretum this Sunday from 10-12 to weed out invasive species in the prarie. Sign up and get a permission slip in Mrs. Volin's classroom S119. Come join us in a great way to keep celebrating Earth Day and enjoy the beautiful spring weather! NHS hours are available if needed.

Due to the locker cleanout this Thursday, we will need lots of hands at recycling after school. Please come to T110 (Mrs. Russ's room) to sign in.
Freshmen, this is a great opportunity for you to earn hours if you plan to apply to the NHS next March.

Locker Cleanout and Inspection
All student lockers will be inspected this Thursday. Here are some quick reminders:
Emptied bottles and cans go in the recycling bins
All other trash goes in the garbage cans
Take down all out of date signs and posters on the outside of your locker
Writing on both the inside and outside of the locker must be thoroughly cleaned.

Colleges Seven Irish Universities are hosting an information session and mini fair atFenwick High School on Thursday April 26, from 7-9PM There is a second opportunity to meet with these universities at the Doubletree, Oakbrook on April 28, 2-4PM. At the fair you can enter for a free trip to the summer program at University College, Dublin this July. Flights and all expenses will be covered for two weeks. You must attend one of the information sessions to enter.
SG All freshmen, sophomore and junior homerooms report directly to st Daniels for speeches from your presidential and vice presidential candidates. Seniors: pick up your senior outing permission forms in the deans office! The forms are due back to the deans office this Friday. Prom permission forms and tables forms are available in the deans office. remember prom tickets cannot be bought unless both permission forms are signed. Prom tables are due may 2nd. Class rep petitions are due on Friday! If it is not turned in to the deans office by Friday after school you will not be allowed to run.
Boys Track Tonight, the Boys track team will celebrate their last home meet with Senior Night. Come support a variety of athletes that look to win conference and make it down state in a few weeks.
Film Club Film Club will meet today from 3:00-4:00.The group will be watching The Firm. The meeting room is M121.
