Girls’ Lacrosse

Come cheer on the girls lacrosse teams In their first home games tonight at BU stadium against Carmel. JV plays at 630, Varsity plays at 745. The theme is a red out.

Book Club

There will be a book club meeting in Mr. Stracco's room, M125, on Tuesday, April 15th after school. The club will be discussing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. New members are welcome.

Broadcasting Club

There will be a Broadcasting Club meeting on tuesday moring before school at 7:25 in meeting room 2 in the library. Broadcasting Varsity Baseball will be discussed. This is a very important meeting and all active members should attend.

Benet Broadcasting...It's not a cult, but its following makes it look like one.

Juniors

Any juniors who have attended Catalyst and are interested in leading the final retreat of the year on May 2 - please email or see Miss Condon by the end of the day Tuesday.

This week's career field is business.  One of our speakers this week is a Senior Director of MultiMedia Sales for the ESPN network.  He has worked in advertising and marketing.  Our other speaker is an Accountant working in International Business.  Her extensive international travels include China, India, and Hong Kong.  More details about our speakers will be emailed to you later today.  Sign up outside of Mrs. Eckert's by 3 pm on Wednesday.

Juniors - Don't forget!  The college counselors are hosting a Mock Admission program TONIGHT. You & your parents will get to form an Admission Committee and review actual applications to University of Chicago. The purpose of this interactive program is for you to gain a better understanding of what highly selective colleges are looking for in an application, how your future applications will be reviewed, and how and why admission decisions are made. The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Sophomores

Sign up sheets for shifts will be outside of Miss Condon's classroom (B205) starting tomorrow.  Questions, see Miss Condon.

Environmental Club

The Environmental Club will meet after school tomorrow in Mrs. Volin's room.  The club will discuss upcoming events including the pancake breakfast, Earth Day activities, the Morton Arboretum work day, River Sweep, and collecting items for TerraCycle.

All interested students are welcome to come to this meeting!   Come find out how you can get involved in making the Earth a more beautiful planet!

Film Club

Film club will be watching "Frozen" on Wednesday. Room m121, new members always welcome.

SALT

Marians who are making Easter baskets should turn their baskets in by Tuesday, April 15th.

Today, our Lenten Make It Matter will be to remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross by Venerating the Cross during homerooms and by wearing a cross to school all week.  On Monday, please report to Daniel's auditorium for homeroom and please remember to wear a cross next week.  Lent:  Make It Matter!

S.A.L.T. is looking for someone willing to do some yard work occasionally for pay for an elderly couple.  See Mrs. Bedore for details.

Father – Daughter Dance

Benet Girls - make plans to attend this Saturday's Father-Daughter Dance with your Dad!  This annual Benet tradition is always an enjoyable night of music, dancing and fun!  The Dance begins at 7:30 PM in the Alumni Gym.  Cost is $30 per family and registration is available online at Benet.org.

Book Club

There will be a book club meeting in Mr. Stracco's room, M125, on Tuesday, April 15th after school. The club will be discussing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. New members are welcome.

Yearbook Pictures

ID/YEARBOOK photos will be taken this Friday during study hall periods. Order forms were mailed home for freshman and sophomores.  Juniors must have their photos taken for IDs. 

Boys’ Lacrosse

Jump on the boys lacrosse bandwagon!! Tonight all 3 teams play at Glenbard West starting at 5:00pm. Go and cheer them on!

German Club

Students planning on joining the German Club at the  Beethoven concert on Sunday must turn in their $10.00 to Mrs. Sterner tomorrow.

Philosophy Club

The Philosophy club will meet tomorrow morning, in J119 at 7:10. The discussion on morality will be continued. With any questions contact Jon Kruppe or Mike Tempestini!

Social Media Club

There will be a Social Media Club meeting on tomorrow morning at 7:25am in Mr. O'Donnell's Room, immediately next to the Recruitment Office. 

Seniors

Please remember that the Lisle Lions Club Scholarship is due to the CCC this Friday.

SALT

S.A.L.T. is looking for students who are willing to cook up a little barbecue for the guests at Hesed House. Students who have signed up to bake, cook, or serve should check their Benet email for details.  Those needing a ride should be at the backdoors near the cafe at 10:15.  All baked goods and pork should be brought to school on Friday morning and placed in Mrs. Bedore's office.  NHS hours will be given. 

This Friday after school, SALT Life will be heading to Access Health Clinic in Downers Grove to participate in their 40 Days for Life prayer vigil.   We are a peaceful, prayerful, presence that has the power to change the hearts of mothers, fathers, and workers. We'll meet by the St. Joseph's entrance around 3:20.  Rides are available for anyone who needs one.  We'll pray for about an hour and then grab some pizza afterwards!

Marians who are making Easter baskets for the sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery should have their baskets turned in to their Marians leader by Tuesday, April 15th.

Want to Publish your original poetry or short stories?  Want to see your artwork or photography appear in the school's literary magazine this spring?

Math Club

Math team will meet tomorrow after school. All participants in the state competition must attend tomorrow's meeting.

Variety Show

There will be an Act 1 rehearsal today at 5 PM in St. Daniel’s Hall.  Those assigned to work backstage must attend also.

Tickets for this year's Variety Show will go on sale today during lunch/homeroom in the cafeteria and after school in the SG office. They will be sold all week long for $8 a ticket. There is assigned seating for the shows, and tickets will not be sold at the door, so coordinate with your friends and make sure to get your ticket before these shows sell out.

Art Club

Art Club will meet today after school in Brother Kevin’s room.

Seniors

Are you  participating in a college sport next year?  If so, you need to sign your name on the list outside of the coaches office, outside the large gym.  It can be anything from D I to DIII, a club team.  Any sport from dance to rugby. 

Please remember that the Lisle Lions Club Scholarship is due to the CCC this Friday.

Any senior who requested the Lisle Rotary Club scholarship must pick it up in the CCC today

Film club will be finishing "saving private Ryan" after school on Wednesday in room m121.

Spring into action at Villa St. Benedict's or Giant Steps.  VSB hosts Angel visits after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 4:30 and Giant Steps welcomes their Benet volunteers Monday through Friday.  Students who have gone to both express how happy it makes them feel to sit and talk with the residents or students.  Sign ups are available for April.  Both opportunities qualify for NHS hours.

 SALT will be serving lunch at Hesed House on Sunday, April 13th (Palm Sunday) and we need help cooking up some pulled pork and dessert OR be part of the friendly Benet community that serves food!  What better way to start Holy Week than to give of yourself for a friend?   NHS hours will be given for cooking, baking, and serving!

Variety Show

Any student wishing to order a DVD of the variety show should make sure to turn in order forms to the Dean's Office by 6th period today. Any forms not submitted by that point will lose the discounted rate offered for this DVD.

The JV soccer game is cancelled due to weather and field conditions.  Practice after school is TBD.

Variety Show

Mr. Redwing

For the last 3 weeks, men of the senior class have been training themselves both mentally and physically for one event. Tonight, those eight men will put it all on the line for the right to be called Mr. Redwing. The Mr. Redwing competition will take place at 7:00 pm tonight in St. Daniel's hall. Admission is $5 and can be paid right at the door. This event is sure to be talked about for generations to come, so don't miss out!

Villa St. Benedict residents have enjoyed their visits from Benet students and are hoping for more!  Angel visits are continuing after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Sign ups are available for this week and for April.

Spirit Store

The Spirit Store will be open after school today in the lobby.

Digital Media Workshop

Any sophomore or junior interested in going to a free, 5 day, digital media workshop at Loyola University this summer should pick up an application in the CCC.

Girls’ Lacrosse

The Varsity and JVA Girls Lacrosse games are on for today at Glenbard South.  JVA plays at 6:30 and Varsity at 7:45 against York.

Girls’ Soccer
Ball boys or girls are needed for all girls soccer home games! Start signing up now!

AP Registration
AP registration closes at 3pm today.

Please follow the directions that were given to you at the AP registration meeting.  You MUST click on the AP Registration Bar below the AP pre-admin sessions to expand the window to show all of the AP options.  Your registration is not complete unless you have clicked on the exams you want to take.

Film Festival

The Benet Independent Film Festival will take place on tuesday the 25th at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. So is guaranteed entertainment. Spielberg did it so you should too. BIFF!

Service Hour Opportunities
Freshmen:

You have one year to get your 12 service hours needed to apply to the NHS and current NHS members you have until the end of this semester to get your 10 hours! See Mrs. Arthurs in S202 ASAP.

We have openings this Fri and Sat for ushers at the musical.  If you are not going downstate, please consider helping out.

Earn NHS Hours by working as an usher at next week's choir concerts.  Two hour shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings are available.  Sign up through Mrs. Rogalski in M120. 

Broadcasting Club
There will be a Broadcasting Club Meeting next tuesday before school at 7:25.

Benet Broadcasting...Vladimir Putin aproves, meaning you should too.

College Fair

The North Central College fair takes place next Monday, March 24. Over 200 colleges will be represented. Pick up a list of the attending colleges in the CCC.

Fan Buses

For those of you who signed up for fan buses, final lists are posted on the SG office window. Please check to make sure that you are signed up. YOU CANNOT SWITCH THE BUS THAT YOU ARE ON! However, if you turned in your form and do not see your name, please see Mr. Frey or Mr. Veselik before the end of 6th period today.

For those of you taking tonight's fan bus, please make sure that you are here by 4:30. Buses will leave promptly at 4:30 from the Martin's Lobby parking lot, and if you're not here, you'll miss your ride. For those of you taking tomorrow's fan bus, please note that if we lose tonight, the bus will leave at 3:30 pm. If we win, it will leave at 5:00 pm. Again, buses will leave promptly at those times so make sure you are here.

Finally, if you are taking a bus down to the game, you MUST take it back. Thanks, and Go Redwings!

State Basketball

A reminder to students that the basketball games in Peoria are a school-sponsored event from the moment you leave to go there until you get back following the tournament. Therefore, all student handbook policies apply.as does our Extra-curricular Activities code. Let's show people at the games and those watching the games on television why Benet fans are the best in the state.

Due to the limited number of pre-sale tickets given to each school, it is likely that your best chance of buying tickets for this weekend's games will be by calling the Peoria Civic Center Box Office at (309) 673-3200. Please tell the box office person that you are with Benet Academy and they will try to put you with or near our section. Carver Arena's seating capacity is 11,300.
