Rule of St. Benedict

  • The Rule of St. Benedict is a document less than 100 pages in length that was written in the sixth century for scholars, nobles, serfs, and shepherds alike. It survives today as a work of true scholarship on spiritual wisdom.
  • According to St . Benedict, spiritual life is something to be worked toward, not merely hoped for.

benedictinesmTherefore we intend to build a school for the Lord’s service.  In drawing up its regulations, we hope to set down nothing harsh, nothing burdensome.”
