When will I know my 8th grader has been accepted to Benet Academy?
Benet Academy notifies 8th graders of their acceptance on or before February 14th; between 2005 - 2010, nearly 70% of all applicants are accepted to Benet’s freshman class.

Once notified of acceptance, what’s the next step?

Benet Academy holds a special Welcome to Benet Program - next year on 21 February 2010  at 1:00 pm - to acquaint future freshmen and their parents with Benet, its programs, extra-curriculars, and classes.  Plan to attend with your son or daughter.  Keep tabs on due dates, financial information, and the school calendar by referring to the Admissions Calendar.

Where is this program held?
The Welcome to Benet Program is held in the St. Ronald gym on the west side of campus.  Following the program, students and their parents are encouraged to tour the buildings, get a glimpse of the new Science wing, and talk with current Benet students

Why come to Benet?  What our students have to say:
“Friends that you will have for life.”    “Challenging academics.”   “Enough Sports and Activities that everyone has an opportunity to get involved in something.”     “Teachers - the kind who know how to challenge students, but always provide a safety net of help and understanding.”      “Outreach & Faith opportunities for involvement and leadership.”

Why come to Benet?  What our parents have to say:
“We originally sent our children to Benet for the academics and the size of the classes. We still want these characteristics for our children's high school. Benet takes it one step farther. They make high school a nurturing experience. The staff has shown our children how relationships, responsibilities, respect and religion are essential in all of our lives. We could not have asked for a more complete education.” - Scott and Colleen Ernsting   [Bryan ’09  &  Kaitlyn ’11]

What is the typical freshman schedule?  How do freshmen get their schedules?
A typical freshmen schedule would include English I, World History, Algebra*, Religion I/PE, Biology, Foreign Language I *[Spanish, French, German & Latin are currently offered], Study Hall, and Homeroom/Lunch.  Band & Chorus may also be added.
*Test results may place a student in a higher level course.
Freshmen will receive their schedules at registration in August.

Does Benet place freshmen in advanced classes?
Yes.  8th graders who have taken challenging classes in Math and Foreign Language may be placed in advanced classes in these two areas based on their scores on the Benet Entrance Exam and a Benet Placement Exam.  Incoming freshmen who believe that they have mastered Algebra and the basics of a  Foreign Language must perform well on placement tests that Benet offers on Saturday May 15, 2010 to be placed in advanced classes.

When are these placement tests in Math and Foreign Languages held?  Where do students take the exam?  Is there a fee?  Does my 8th grader need to take both?

The Benet placement tests will be offered on May 15, 2010.  There is no fee for either test.  Students are encouraged to test only in the areas they feel well-prepared for.

What tests will be given?

Benet’s Math and Foreign Language departments develop the tests that are given for advanced placement.

How can students prepare for the placement tests?
The best preparation for the placement tests is to continue doing one’s best work in your 8th grade classes,  getting a good night’s sleep and eating breakfast.

How early should we arrive at Benet?  Where do students go?
Plan on arriving at Benet by 8:15 am.  Students can be dropped off most easily at the Fr. Ronald Gym Entrance on the West side of campus.  From there students will be directed to their assigned room for the test.
