Benet Math Team Wins Regional Championship!  The Math Team won its 2nd straight Regional
Championship Saturday at Aurora University, qualifying the team for the State
Finals in May.
Senior Brendan
Caseria won the Senior Individual Written Competition, while senior Patrick Hawley finished third and
seniors Zach McCormick and Tom Wester tied for fourth place. These
scores gave the Seniors the Precalculus Regional Written Team Championship.
Caseria also teamed up with junior Jach
Stucky to finish first in the Junior-Senior 2-Person Contest.
Stucky and Junior Ryan
Wolfe shared the Regional Championship in the Junior Individual Written
Competition, while Eva Baghdan
finished sixth leading the Juniors to the Algebra 2 Regional Written Team
Championship.
Sophomores Max Helfers
and Matt Rossi won Sophomore
Individual Written Competition, and these same two finished first in the
Freshman-Sophomore 2-Person Contest. The Sophomore Team finished second in the
Geometry Regional Written Championship.
Freshmen twins Declan
and Owen McNamara, along with Matt
Bianucci and Arun Kumar swept,
in order, the first four places in the Freshman Algebra 1 competition, as the
Freshman Team easily won the Algebra 1 Regional Written Championship.
Other events winning a Regional Championship included the
Freshman/Sophomore 8-Person Team*, the Junior/Senior 8-Person Team* and the
Calculator Team*.
The Math Team will compete in the North Suburban Math
League Conference Meet next week, and then begin preparations for the State
Finals. *Members of these teams are as follows: Freshman/Sophomore 8-person Team
