The Mission Statement: The  Model United Nations seeks to educate high school students in the arts of debate, negotiation, and public speaking, to introduce them to the complexities of international organizations, and to demonstrate the potential power of the United Nations in resolving international problems.

 1.  The 2009 conference will be held on .

 2.  Benet Juniors and Seniors are eligible to participate.

 3. Previous participants are given some preference, but no guarantee of a place in the delegation.

 4. Prospective delegates must take a short exam..

 5. The moderator chooses all delegates.  Meetings are held bi-weekly beginning in late September.  Failure to attend  meetings will result in removal from the delegation.  Students are each required to write 2 position papers, a country “biography” and a final report upon our return from the conference.

 6. Conduct grades may be a factor in participation and the Dean’s Office is consulted on this matter.

 7.  The cost varies, but is generally around $400.  This includes delegate fees, transportation, hotel, and theater tickets.   Additional Student expenses are primarily for meals.

 8.  Remember that this is a school activity so the school handbook rules apply.
