Benet Academy Boys and Girls Cross-Country Camp

Benet Academy’s Cross-Country Camp is designed to prepare seventh and eighth grade runners as they approach their cross-country season.  By stressing the importance of team running and pack strategy, runners will learn the value of competing together as one team.  During the week special attention will be given to fundamentals such as stretching and nutrition.  Ideas for training and overall racing strategies will also be taught to help give runners an edge in racing.  By providing an exciting environment about running, runners will “run” away prepared and enthusiastic about their upcoming season.  From brand new runners to those with years of experience, every runner will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to succeed as part of a team and to reach those personal goals.

There are two levels to sign up for; first year campers who are new to the experience and advanced runners who are returnees from last year.

Advanced level: This is only for those entering 8th grade this up coming school year who ran at the camp last summer. Workouts and talks will be different and a little more intense. Sign up will need to be done by June 30 as workouts will be sent out to each runner two weeks before camp to have completed.  Also, a log will be attached were the runner can note their progress and reflect on their days accomplishment.  The idea is to get the runner into shape by the beginning of the camp to be able to add more intensity then what was experienced the previous year. Fitness level is the goal, not ability. So we welcome back those campers from last year and offer you a chance to use what was learned the previous year and to build on the current fitness level you bring to the camp.
