JUNIOR RELIGION

"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work." -2 Tim 3:16-17

Junior Religion - Scripture and Social Justice

This course is a study of the Bible with an understanding of how the Israelites and early Christians came to know and understand their God.  An historical and literary understanding of the times that the Scriptures were written and a cultural understanding of the people are essential to this course.  From the teaching of the prophets, we are led to apply the Scriptures and their message to our own time.  We therefore look at several of today's major social justice issues.  Students will be asked to reflect on the meaning of Scripture in their own lives and how its message can be an agent in transforming the world in which we live.
