Toni Baumgartner, age 94, a resident of
Naperville, IL since 1952, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025 at her home at Villa St. Benedict in Lisle, IL. She was born on September 3, 1930 in Syracuse, NY to Edwin and Angela Ostermeier.
Toni is survived by her loving children, Dan (Cathy) Baumgartner, Roxy (Steven Tench) Baumgartner, Steve (Sue) Baumgartner, Brad (Jeri) Baumgartner, Donna (Harland) Schaffer, Diane (Greg) Cook, John (Monica) Baumgartner, Susan (Will) Hansen, Rich (Jen) Baumgartner, and Patti (Tim Gallagher) Baumgartner; her cherished grandchildren, Matt (Katy) Baumgartner, Mike (Allie) Baumgartner, Scott (Lindsey) Baumgartner, Sara (Tom) Walcott, Sarah (Tim) Swiss, Eric (Jessie) Baumgartner, Kelly (Gytis) Savukynas, Lisa Baumgartner, Megan (Dan) O'Donovan, Kari (Shawn) Shaffer, Kevin (Meredith) Schaffer, Jen (Brayton) Jones, Shellie (Jonathan Hutchison) Schaffer, Becky (Kris) McFarland, Garrett Cook, Jake Baumgartner, Max Baumgartner, Kurt (Abby) Hansen, Amie (Mike) Schmitt, Jennifer Nix, Colin (Mary Kate) Baumgartner, Sloane Baumgartner, Cale Baumgartner, Katie (Ryan) Bagg, and Jeff Brown; her 30 adored great-grandchildren.
Toni was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Baumgartner; her parents; her brother, Donald Ostermeier (who died on the same day 35 years ago), and her sister, Jeanette Lehner.
Toni was a graduate of Nazareth Academy, LaGrange, Class of 1948. She was a founding member of St. Raphael Catholic Church & School, Naperville, and a longtime volunteer at Benet Academy. She served as a secretary at Benet from 1965-1980 and swim coach from 1980-1990. She was a partner and co-owner of the family business Baumgartner Construction Company since 1965. Throughout her life, Toni enjoyed playing golf and sewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations to be made for the Grotto at Sacred Heart Monastery, 1910 Maple Avenue, Lisle, IL 60532. Please write "Benedictine Sisters-Grotto" in the memo.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 1, 1:00-5:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 2, 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Monastery Chapel, 1910 Maple Ave., Lisle, with visitation one hour prior. A private family interment will be at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville, at a later date.
