Bill Smialek '72 had a 40 year technical career in shelf-stable food packaging (cans, glass, pouches, plastic) and food plant operations.  Since his 2017 retirement he has remained active in professional societies, co-edited a technical manual and done some consulting.  One example from these activities was instructing at an internationally attended class in food package manufacturing and product processing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the fall of 2024. This and other webinars, schools and technical programs are Bill's way of giving back to students and an industry important to most everyone.
